About the Opportunity

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) plays a pivotal role in driving the strategic direction of Parkes Shire Council’s Financial Services department. This position involves not only the comprehensive management of financial operations but also the provision of authoritative advice on governance, budget development, and long-term financial sustainability.

As a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, the CFO will be responsible for implementing the Integrated Planning and Reporting (IP&R) framework and ensuring that our financial strategies align with legislative, operational and community objectives. This role also includes oversight of grant funding opportunities and corporate communications to enhance external funding opportunities, bolster community confidence and support informed decision-making.

About You

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced financial leader who possesses both strategic vision and operational expertise.

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Extensive senior management experience in a complex organizational setting.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities with a focus on team development and performance enhancement.
  • Strong analytical, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in IT and financial management software.
  • Current NSW Class C Driver License.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to excellence, integrity, and community engagement, driving financial initiatives that align with Parkes Shire Council's mission and values.

Salary and Benefits

This position offers a competitive salary ranging from $160,000 to $180,000 (depending on skills and experience), plus super and salary packaging options to increase your take-home pay. This position also comes with a motor vehicle allowance or leaseback vehicle option.
