About the Opportunity
We are seeking a motivated and capable Water Services Operator to join our Water and Sewer team. This role plays a vital part in ensuring the delivery of high quality water services to our community.
The Water Operator is responsible for monitoring, operating and maintaining Council’s water supply systems and associated infrastructure. The position supports the installation of new mains and meters, repairs to services, meter reading, operation of plant, and a range of maintenance activities across the Shire.
This is a hands on role that involves both planned and reactive work, including participation in a rotating on-call roster for after hours service requirements.

About You
The successful applicant requires strong communication and teamwork skills. To be successful in this position you will need:
- Current and maintained NSW Driver's Licence
- SafeWork NSW Construction induction (White Card)
- Minimum of two (2) years relevant work experience
- Demonstrate ability to contribute positively to the team environment
- Commitment to safety, reliability and high-quality service
- Willing to participate in on-call duties
- Up-to-date immunisations for Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B and Tetanus (or willingness to obtain)
It will be highly favorable if you possess any of the following:
- Certificate III in Water Operations

The appointment will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award and Parkes Shire Council's policies and conditions of employment.
The role has been evaluated as being Grade 7 of the Council's salary structure with a commencing salary of $61,885.20 ($31.32 per hour) to $71,167.98 ($36.02). The commencing salary to be determined upon the qualifications, skills and experience of the successful candidates.
