About the Opportunity
Parkes Shire Council is looking for a Truck Driver - Gravel Construction in the Operations team.
Working in the field, the Truck Driver will operate Council's mobile plant (gravel truck) in a safe and effective manner for the purpose of undertaking civil works involved in the construction and maintenance of Council infrastructure. You may be required to undertake a variety of other activities associated with civil construction, including but not limited to:
- Operating other mobile plant within the scope of training and capability
- Assist with set out of works
- Traffic control
The successful applicant requires strong communication and teamwork skills and will have the opportunity to work throughout the Shire. The role will allow you a level of autonomy, however day to day directions will be provided by the Works Supervisors.

About You
The successful applicant requires strong communication and teamwork skills. To be successful in this position you will need:
- Current and maintained HC Licence or willing to obtain
- SafeWork NSW Construction induction (White Card)
- Demonstrated experience in operating HR trucks for gravel and civil works
It will be highly favorable if you possess any of the following:
- Certificate III in Civil Construction
- Traffic Control Qualifications: Traffic Controller and Implement Traffic Control plans
- Competency certification in the operation of a Grader
- Other Plant Operation certificates
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Relevant experience in other plant operation

The appointment will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award and Parkes Shire Council's policies and conditions of employment.
The role has been evaluated as being Grade 5 of the Council's salary structure with a commencing salary of $57,570.37 ($29.13 to $33.51 per hour). The commencing salary will be determined based on the qualifications, skills and experience of the successful candidate.
