Parkes Shire Council is seeking a dynamic Director of Operations to lead our talented team. 

About the Opportunity

Based in Parkes, NSW, as the Director of Operations you will:

  • Shape the strategic direction and performance of our Operations Directorate.
  • Ensure efficient and effective delivery of services, projects, and programs across various portfolios including:
    • Fleet and depot
    • Parks and gardens
    • Property management (including airport, caravan park, pools, Council buildings and Council land)
    • Road safety and injury prevention.
    • Roads, paths, and cycleways
    • Stormwater drainage
    • Technical and design services
  • Champion legislative compliance, Council policies, and service excellence.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Leadership Team to manage day-to-day operations. 
  • Drive the implementation of our Integrated Planning and Reporting (IP&R) framework.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • University qualification in Engineering
  • Extensive experience working in a relevant field at a senior management or executive level in a complex organisation.
  • Advanced leadership skills
  • Advanced strategic planning skills
  • Advanced communication and interpersonal skills
  • High level IT literacy, computer and software skills
  • General Construction Induction Card (White Card).
  • Current driver's licence.

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

  • Postgraduate qualification/s in Leadership, Project Management or related discipline.
  • Successful completion of Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) Company Directors Course.
  • Professional accreditation such as Governance Institute of Australia, Engineers Australia or similar.
